Born in 1947, Gisbert L. Brunner has been fascinated by wristwatches and precision timepieces since 1964. His lifelong passion for mechanical watches inspired him to begin writing in the early 1980s. Today, he contributes regularly to leading publications such as Chronos Japan and ZEIT Magazin, and in 2018, he co-founded the renowned watch website uhrenkosmos.com.
Brunner is the author of more than 30 books on watchmaking—ten of them published by teNeues—including bestsellers such as The Watch Book I, The Watch Book II, The Watch Book Rolex (2017), and 100 Iconic Watches (2024).
