The Family Home Takes Full Advantage of the Narrow Plot

For Raw Home, the Taller Estilo Arquitectura team faced a number of design challenges. In addition to the west-facing entryway, the family home was to be built on a long but very narrow plot of land. However, the architects found a novel solution to all their problems: building an air chimney. The walls and barriers throughout the house were carefully set as to direct the crossflow of the balmy Yucatán air while preventing the northern-most rooms from the harsh western light. The house itself exists as a long, mono-faceted volume made from concrete and a natural material palette. The central pool and abundant greenery both thermoregulate the family home and provide a bright splash of color against the neutral color scheme.
