A Modern Makeover for an Old Monastery

architecture & interior

Peter Jurkovič gave an old flat, installed in a former monastery from 1719, a modern makeover. His main goal was to achieve a clean and functional look with customized built-in furniture for the inhabitants, a young couple. The budget was tight so the architect decided to put the main focus on the living room, an open space with a height of 3.6m. They restored the wooden ceiling and added a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf. The library features a secret door through which you can access the hidden bedroom.
