The Domed Dwelling Was Briefly Listed on Sotheby’s

Before he passed, television host Huell Howser donated this house designed by Harold Bissner Jr. to Chapman University. Capping a volcano in the middle of Mojave Desert, the home offers an uninterrupted panoramic view of the rolling hills from underneath the gentle rotunda. With a white arcade protecting the lush, wooden interior from the desert daylight, the Volcano House was brough back to light this year when it was listed for sale on Sotheby’s.
