The grandiose buildings of mid-century Belgrade are perfectly preserved mementos from the times of Socialist Modernism; Serbian photographer Mirko Nahmijas put the strict symmetry and harsh lines at the forefront of his series Minimal Belgrade. Ripe with brutalist influence, the architecture is indicative of a boiled-down vision of the future: sans embellishments and decorative flourishes, the beauty of the simple structures is allowed room to breath.
