Issun Bôshi (Revised Edition)

Issun Bôshi, the classic Japanese fairy tale of the tiny, brave boy, returns in a new edition and format. After years of wishing for a child, an elderly couple is blessed with a son no taller than an inch. Armed with a needle as his sword, a bowl as his boat, and a chopstick as his oar, Issun Bôshi sets out to find his place in the world.

In a series of adventures, he proves that courage matters more than size—and, as in every true fairy tale, he wins the princess in the end.

Icinori are Mayumi Otero and Raphaël Urwiller, an acclaimed French illustrator duo. Otero is known for her playful, ironic drawings and etchings in children’s books, while Urwiller brings his expertise as a graphic designer and illustrator for leading newspapers and magazines. Together they reimagined Issun Bôshi with intricate detail and a style inspired by Asian traditions, creating a work that bridges folklore and contemporary book art.
